Itinerary Details

  1. Day 1Pre Tour Ride and Welcome Dinner

    Your holiday has begun! Welcome to Darwin and the start of your cycling adventure. Settle in on arrival and organise your last minute items before the first ride in the late afternoon.  

    This ride will give you the opportunity to be fitted out appropriately with your bike and helmet for the tour and ensure all is well suited before embarking on your outback adventure. Post ride, bask in the golden sunlight as the sun sets over Darwin Harbour at the tour’s official welcome dinner. The dinner includes a very moving traditional ‘acknowledgement of country’ performed by the local indigenous Larrakia people, as they welcome riders to country and provide a special insight into their spiritual connection with the land.

  2. Day 2Darwin’s best MTB flow trail & Territory Wildlife Park

    Today you are in for a treat with riding Darwin’s favourite mountain bike flow trails with an early morning ride through the quirky Yarrawonga Pine Forrest. The days second ride takes you up and close to the wildlife of Australia with a ride through the Territory Wildlife Park, viewing animals in their natural settings and depicting the diversity of natural habitats in the Northern Territory.

    Enjoy a relaxing swim and BBQ lunch as you unwind at the picturesque Berry Springs Nature Park before ending the day in Batchelor, the gateway to Litchfield National Park.

  3. Day 3Litchfield National Park Ride & Swim

    Today you will venture into Litchfield National Park, the Northern Territory’s most visited National Park well known for its picturesque waterfalls.  It all begins with an early morning road ride with beautiful views from waterfall to waterfall followed by the most refreshing swims at the magnificent Buley Rock Hole and Florence Falls, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the open valley and waterhole below.

    After lunch is the day’s second ride which takes you off the beaten track away from everyone else along our very own secret off-road trail. This ride explores the many different terrains of the National Park and will have you riding through the largest magnetic termite mound city you have ever seen.

  4. Day 4Batchelor to Adelaide River

    Follow the scenic route of the historic former Northern Australian railway that was built in 1889 riding the Old Coach Road from Batchelor to the one time WWII township Adelaide River where many reminders of the railway and WWII still remain.

    Riders will get a chance to relax for lunch at Adelaide River’s historic 303 Bar before transiting to Katherine for a dinner with a difference that is always enjoyed by all.

  5. Day 5Nitmiluk Gorge Ride & Cruise

    An early morning departure from Katherine will have you riding the NT’s most recently constructed and first class mountain bike trails that takes you to the top of Nitmiluk Gorge where your hard work will be rewarded with absolutely magnificent views. Following lunch, get a different perspective of the Gorge with a eye-catching boat cruise, or for those still with energy to burn a canoe trip up the spectacular Gorge.

    The day ends with a recovery swim at Katherine’s thermal hot pools followed by a late afternoon leisurely site-seeing road ride around the township of Katherine. By now you have certainly worked up an appetite and rewarded with dinner at Katherine’s finest dining.

  6. Day 6Return to Darwin via Edith Falls

    Today commences with an early morning trail ride around the outskirts of Katherine’s township and riverbeds. Next stop is to the western side of Nitmiluk National Park, the traditional home of the Jawoyn people named Edith Falls, a series of exquisite cascading waterfalls and pools for your second ride, hike and swim.

    Lunch stop is at the eccentric Lazy Lizard Tavern in the historic gold mining town Pine Creek. The town was traditionally the junction point for three large indigenous ethic groups before the influx of Europeans in the 1870’s after gold was discovered by workers constructing the Overland Telegraph line.

    The tour’s final ride is back in Darwin at the Charles Darwin National Park mountain bike trails, a small gem close to the centre of Darwin which has national significance for its ecological diversity, Aboriginal and WWII history.
