Itinerary Details
- Day 1 Bangkok – Rayong – Chanthaburi
You begin with a morning pick-up from your accommodation in Bangkok and transfer about 3.5 hours to the eastern province of Chanthaburi. After lunch at the base of Khitchakut’s holy mountain, you’ll set up your bike and head out for your first ride in rural Thailand. You pass tropical fruit orchards—durian, mangosteen, and longan—along with rubber plantations and woodlands, with the jungle-covered Cardamom Range in the background. After roughly 25 km, the final stretch takes you along a busier provincial road into the centre of Chanthaburi City. You ride through the narrow streets of its historic riverside community and visit Thailand’s largest Catholic cathedral before arriving at your hotel on the edge of town. In the evening, you meet again with the group for a welcome dinner.

- Day 2Chanthaburi - Chao Lao Beach
You make your way out of Chanthaburi by following a canal road toward the retro riverside town of Nong Bua, known for its well-preserved wooden buildings. From there, you turn into a quiet area of fruit orchards and coconut groves, cycling along small country roads. After about 40 km, you reach the Gulf of Thailand and stop for lunch at Laem Singh Beach. You’ll also see remnants of 19th-century French occupation here, including the so-called “chicken poop prison,” which your guide can explain.
Your route then continues west along the coast, with around 15 km on a flat provincial road that cuts across a bay. You finish the ride with a scenic stretch beside an inland lagoon dotted with fisheries. A few mild climbs take you over the hills and back to the coast, where you end the day at a resort on Chao Lao Beach—a long, palm-lined shoreline popular with locals but still off the usual tourist trail.- 43.5 miles

- Day 3Chao Lao Beach - Mae Phim Beach
Your ride today takes you from one beach to another, following a route that showcases the natural wealth of eastern Thailand—from aquaculture areas to fertile farmland. You begin by cycling along Khung Kraben Bay on a gravel road that passes a long line of shrimp farms, recognisable by their rectangular ponds. After about 15 km, you make your way around a rugged cape, stopping at a small Buddhist shrine at the end of a walkway that reaches into the bay, before enjoying a great stretch of riding on a tarmac road running right beside the ocean.
From there, you head inland through fruit orchards, rubber trees, and woodlands. You stop for lunch near a vintage riverside community, then cross a bridge arching over a wide estuary. The final 20 km take you past more shrimp farms and along the coast until you arrive at Mae Phim Beach, where you spend the night at a seaside resort.- 45.4 miles

Lunch isn’t included today, so you can grab something at a rest stop on the way or choose to eat at the airport before your flight. Once you arrive in Siem Reap and clear customs, the SpiceRoads Cambodia team meets you and transfers you to your hotel. In the evening, you meet again for dinner.

- Day 5Ancient Angkor’s Iconic Sites by Bike
You spend today exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor, home to the former capital cities of the Khmer Empire, whose god-kings built grand stone temples between the 9th and 15th centuries. You discover Angkor’s most iconic sites by cycling along the many paths that pass by, lead to, and wind around the temples scattered across the plain.
At Ta Prohm, made famous by Tomb Raider, you come upon crumbling laterite and sandstone walls wrapped in the massive roots of fig trees. At the Bayon, built as a symbolic map of the heavens, you take in the serene, carved faces gazing in all directions from the temple towers. And at Angkor Wat—Cambodia’s national symbol and the world’s largest religious structure—you wander through courtyards lined with well-preserved carvings and bas-reliefs depicting Hindu mythology, battles, and scenes of daily life.
A short vehicle transfer takes you to the entrance of Angkor Wat, and you bike back to Siem Reap afterward. With plenty of dining choices available, dinner is on your own this evening.- 26.1 miles

- Day 6Siem Reap Countryside
Today you head farther from the main Angkor sites and leave the crowds behind. Departing Siem Reap by bike, you ride north—starting on paved roads before transitioning to quiet dirt tracks that cut through rice fields and small villages. Along the way, you stop at local homes for an up-close look at rural cottage industries such as basket weaving and sugar-palm production.
Your ride ends at Banteay Srey, a 10th-century temple famed for its intricate bas-reliefs carved into delicate pink sandstone. After lunch at a nearby restaurant, you transfer back to Siem Reap and have the afternoon free to relax by the pool, enjoy a massage, or explore town. If you have extra energy, you may skip the transfer and cycle back to Siem Reap instead (about 40 km along the main road).
In the evening, you dine at SPOONS, a social-enterprise restaurant serving authentic Khmer cuisine and supporting the training of marginalized youth.- 33.6 miles
