  • Where does the tour start and end?

The tour starts and ends at Dalaman Airport (DLM). Note that transfers are only included on the first and last day of the tour. If planning to arrive or depart outside of the tour times, do let us know and we'll see what is possible.

  • How long is the tour? How many days riding?

The tour is 8 days long with 6 days of cycling.

  • What's the tour like?

    General cycling information
On this tour, you'll cycle 224 km/139.2 miles over 6 days (an average of 37 km/23 miles per day). When not on the plains, the terrain is generally undulating, with some significant ascents and descents, reflecting the spectacular nature of the country. Day 5 is mainly ascent - over the course of the day, you'll climb 1000m. Bear in mind that there is vehicle support at all times, should you need a lift uphill! The route is graded as moderate.

Expect a couple of longer days with some great ascents balanced with time set aside to recover and relax. On day 5, the ride is graded at the upper end of moderate, but you have the support vehicle as a safety net that can help you if needed.

While you definitely don't need to be a cycling pro to join this tour, you should have a good level of fitness and experience riding a bike. You might enjoy it more if you prepare with a bit of pedalling practice beforehand.

You'll take on one or two routes with high ascents - the support bus will be on hand for those who'd rather sit them out.  It can get incredibly hot in Turkey during the summer months - during these periods, the itinerary might vary slightly to avoid the hottest parts of the day.

  • What's the food like? Can I drink the water?

Typical Turkish breakfasts will have a selection of cheese, olives, tomatoes, cucumber, salad, eggs, fruit, jam, honey, pastries and bread with tea and coffee. Sometimes there may also be a simple cereal provided to cater for foreign guests.
Vegetarians will generally be well catered for as many dishes are based on vegetables and dairy products.

Please note that the availability of ingredients for restricted diets such as gluten - free or dairy-free is very limited in Turkey and it is strongly recommend you bring specialised dietary items with you.

It is generally possible to drink the local tap water, therefore, to reduce the need for single-use plastic bottles, it is recommend you bring a refillable water bottle with you. Your leader will advise you on refill points each day.

  • What optional activities are available?

The following excursions and/or activities are usually available and may be arranged locally. This is a brilliant cycling holiday. I particularly liked staying with a local family in a hill village and eating delicious home cooked lunches in local's houses while in the hills. It is the hilliest group cycling holiday of the many "moderate"  cycling trips that I have done. An ebike option would make this an even better holiday. We went in mid September and the weather was cool in the hills and lovely and warm by the coast. Our leaders Tarkan and Ali were excellent and chose excellent restaurants for evening meals. Recommended.

Wonderful trip. Our tour leader Tarkan & Assalti were enthusiastic, informative and knowledgeable about every aspect of the cities & culture of Turkey. Both were patient with me as I was not as quick on the bike up those hills as were my fellow tour members.
