The tour is 11 days long with 9 days of cycling and 1 day of optional cycling.

  • What should be packed for the tour?

Pack light: Most locations are small cities and towns. For the most part, attire will be very casual, so you can leave the tux and tiara at home! There will be access to laundry facilities at or near many hotels.

Climate: May-June-Sept-Oct, can have cool days and evenings. Bring a warm sweater or light jacket. You may want a long-sleeved cycling jersey and pants. During July & Aug. days can be hot and humid. Make sure you are cycling in cool fabrics, however a light sweater may still be desired at night.

Special Items: Hat, sunscreen, bathing suit, towel, bug spray, rain gear, rain poncho for your bike.

For sure! However, please note that for each guest on a tour 1 space is allocated for 1 standard bike. Any personal bike that exceeds limits must be approved prior to the tour and is subject to additional handling fees.

If you will bring your own bike on your tour, you'll need to bring your own gear as well. We recommend bringing a rear trunk to carry stuff like hat, sunscreen, rain gear, etc. You'll also need to bring 2 tubes that fit your tires.

A road or hybrid bike is recommended for this tour.

Amazing trip, cycling along the Erie Canal with [the tour operator]. Diane and her team planned a perfect trip and provided support to our group. She provides regular bikes and electric bikes both are in great condition and up to the task. We rode 404 miles with no problems. This is a great way to see the countryside and learn the history of the Erie Canal.

We totally enjoyed the Erie Canal trip. Diane and her staff are knowledgeable, thoughtful, well organised and very helpful. Each night's stay was in a clean comfortable hotel and a few were just amazingly charming. We would recommend [the tour operator] for a terrific experience.

The Erie Canal trail is gorgeous. The trail surface is smooth and easy to ride on. This was our first guided tour, so we were pleased that we had the flexibility to make our own decisions about when to start and stop riding. Trail is mostly flat and none of the hills are difficult.
