This Queensland Cycling Tour is a beauty. Ride the Kilkivan and Brisbane Valley Rail Trails in a fully supported, small group tour over 9 days. Finish with 2 nights in beautiful Noosa and an easy coastal ride. On this Queensland cycling tour, the terrain is as varied as is the scenery. From coastal beaches to rural farmland. From concrete flat cycling paths to hard-packed dirt trails. Whilst no technical biking skills are required, a sense of adventure and a love of the great outdoors is.

Itinerary Details

  1. Day 1Arrival Brisbane

    After collection from Brisbane airport, you'll arrive at the accommodation in Brisbane. This evening you will enjoy the first group meal, where you will meet your guide, ask as many questions as you like, and get to know your fellow cyclists. We will sample some local wines with your restaurant meal included in your tour.

  2. Day 2Brisbane to Ipswitch. Ride to Esk

    After breakfast, we transfer to the start of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT). We collect our bikes and head off cycling this wonderful trail. Starting from Wulkuraka on the BVRT heading toward Esk, keep an eye out for wildlife including koala, echidna, emu and more. The trail is pretty much flat today . The incrediby well restored rail stations on route make great photo opporutnities. Some of the outback scenery is memorable.

    Accommodation tonight is a 3-3.5 star clean comfortable motor inn. Esk is real outback Queensland and a pub visit or local Thai is in order for dinner. We spend 2 nights here.

  3. Day 3Yarraman to Moore

    There will be a morning transfer to Yarraman which means today, we enjoy a downhill roll and expansive views. A stop for lunch at the gorgeous Old Church Gallery café, which also houses a stunning art gallery, is a lovely surprise. We continue our ride enjoying the BVRT for approx 50kms (31mi) with highlights including the Harlin tunnel and crossing the restored heritage listed Lockyer Creek bridge. Overnight in Esk.

  4. Day 4Esk to Linville

    We enjoy riding from our hotel today as we head on the final section of the BVRT to Linville where a good old fashioned pub lunch at the newly restored Linville Hotel awaits before we transfer to overnight in Yarraman. Accommodation tonight is 3/3.5 star clean comfortable motor inn.

  5. Day 5Yarraman to Kingaroy

    Today we again ride from our accommodation, always a great way to start, heading toward the start of the Kilkivan to Kingaroy Rail Trail. This is the unofficial connecting trail between the two rail trails, and includes farm tracks, paved backcountry roads and some undulating hills. There are some superb views today so the short climbs are worth it. The support vehicle is never far away as you go on the tour's longest day of cycling. We ride into our accommodation in Kingaroy where we will stay the next 2 nights.

  6. Day 6Kingaroy to Murgon

    This section of South Burnett Rail Trail is a sealed, 44 kilometre (27.3mi) rail trail in the South Burnett Region of Queensland. Littered with lovely country towns, great coffee shops and other attractions are available at Kingaroy, Wooroolin, Wondai and Murgon. It’s the ideal trail for some leisurely cycling and with a downhill gradient, makes it even more enjoyable. We finish with a transfer back to Kingaroy and an afternoon wine tasting at a nearby winery.

  7. Day 7Murgon to Kilkivan

    Today’s ride on the northern half of the Kilkivan Kingaroy Rail Trail is completely different from the yesterdays, but is very beautiful in a different way. Unsealed for it’s entire length, but again descending, the ride is more adventurous with expansive regional views and minimal signage and infrastructure. Rolling into Kilkivan,  we jump in the bus for our 1.5 hour trip to refreshing Noosa Heads where we spend the next 2 nights. Accommodaiton is at a 4--star property near the main Noosa beach and all that Noosa has to offer. It’s the perfect place to round off our cycling adventure.

  8. Day 8Noosa (Optional Coastal Cycling Trail loop ride (35kms)

    A morning dip, a walk along the beach, a massage or some shopping, today is entirely up to you. There are some wonderful coastal paths and for those keen we will do an easy 35kms (21.7mi) loop from our accommodaiton and back. Enjoy your afternoon of leisure before our final celebratory dinner in a special venue tonight. What a trip!

  9. Day 9Check Out and Return to Brisbane

    For those heading back to Brisbane, a return transfer is provided. Alternatively, your have the option to stay on in Noosa (we can arrange extra nights). Bid your farewells as we complete our incredible adventure in South East Queensland.
