  • How long is the tour? How many cycling days?

The tour is 7 days long with all 7 days being cycling days.

  • What's the tour like?

To determine the grade of a particular adventure the tour operator considers a number of factors. These include the condition of the terrain, the altitude, the amount of climbing, the types of roads and the length of the trip.

The Marlborough & West Coast Cycle is graded moderate to challenging. You will need to be a competent road rider with stamina and a good level of fitness, you should be able to cycle comfortably for up to 6-8 hours or around 100km/60miles per day, day after day, with some extended uphill ascents. There are some long days and some steep sections. You should be confident riding on main roads alongside traffic which can be travelling at speed. This tour is not for beginners. The tour is fully supported and if at any stage you feel like having a rest from cycling you will be able to ride in the support vehicle.

  • Who will lead the group?

The guides are one of the biggest assets of the tour operator and they have pride for their level of quality and high standards. Once the trip reaches 8 people,  two expert guides will join to maximise your enjoyment and overall experience. You’ll know you’re in safe hands as all of the guides are certified in first aid and CPR and many of them are trained bike mechanics. They come from all walks of life but the guides have a common desire to give you the best possible experience, fun and lots of fond memories to take home with you.

Fabulous cycling, brilliant guide (Angela), wonderful scenery, great company. We made new friends, learned a lot about the area, enjoyed fantastic food...and plenty of it. When booking, the trip seemed a little expensive, but we absolutely got our money's worth in the quality of every aspect. You have a very well organised company, with great employees and access to the best that NZ can offer in terms of cycling.

I loved seeing New Zealand from a bike. The forests, the coastline, the quiet roads. I was amazed at the changes in biomes as we moved from place to place. Our guides, specifically Richard, did an amazing job of checking in with each of us, informing us of everything from wildlife to way of life in New Zealand. His friendly & genuine style welcomed me from day 1 to the end of the trip. Dave, our riding guide, kept good track of us and motivated me to get up that last hill on Day 7. He was also very good at telling me about the farming of deer & elk. Reaching the coast & all its beauty was the highlight for me. Our group walked around Pancake Rocks & the trail leading out to Te Miko beach. Our view from our room that night was simply breathtaking!
