Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai Bike Tour

My husband and I had an amazing time, on the Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai trip. The organisation of the trip was faultless and we were able to relax and enjoy the ride. The guide (named Ayay - not sure how to spell it) was friendly, knowledgeable, always cheerful; a perfect combination of expertise and friendship. Mr Thai our driver was always there for us in the minibus, sorting out our bikes and setting up delicious fruit, drinks and thai snacks as a break on our rides. The rides themselves were very pleasant, through villages, paddy fields, farms, countryside, along the river etc, and it was wonderful to see the country at such close quarters.

We are both over 50 (I am less fit than my husband) but we managed the ride fine; it was undulating and between 35 and 50 km per day but we finished by 2-3 pm and were then able to relax in our accommodation. The hotels were of very good quality, in beautiful landscaped resorts, with individual rooms or chalets, a pool, and nature all around. We even had two excellent thai massages in the privacy of our room (much needed after a day in the saddle.

Ps ladies: the bikes are excellent and robust but they have sporty saddles. If you want more comfort bring your own saddle which is well worth the space in your suitcase). The food was excellent. Ayay helped us to order a selection of dishes to share and enthusiastically explained to us what they were and how they are cooked. When we were dropped at Chiang Rai airport at the end, Ayay even went to the extra effort of booking a car for us and negotiating a fee to be taken round the sights in Chiang Rai as we had several hours' wait before our flight. We are already looking up what trip to do next. We would definitely choose [the operator] as our tour company again, and our friends have also used them 3 times!

This was one of my all-time favourite travel experiences. I expected the views during the rides to be great but our guide, driver, the food, and the cultural experiences made it a truly top-notch trip.

I had high expectations for this trip and it exceeded every one of them. Ji, Mr. Egg, the food, and the bike course were all fantastic! If I did another bike ride through Thailand I would insist on doing it with Ji and Mr. Egg.

I took this tour with my parents in December 2019. Tony, our guide, was fantastic and so knowledgeable about life in the Thai countryside. We had an excellent selection of drinks and snacks throughout the trip, and our lunch stops were at really good quality Thai restaurants. The hotels were excellent too. Our bikes were perfectly maintained and the routes we took were interesting and definitely off the beaten track, and not too hilly either. I hope to travel with [the ground operator] again!!

Fantastic way to travel. Slowing things down to cycling pace really lets you experience the culture, sights, sounds and smells of the region!

Aei and Mr. Thai were truly fantastic! Aei brought the perfect combination of exuberance, support and knowledge to our tour. It was clear that she loves her culture and history and finds great joy in sharing them. She was a wonderful guide who, by the end of the tour, became a friend. Mr. Thai made sure that everything was in order - transportation, bikes and snacks. They were a terrific team.

A terrific experience, cycling through local districts between Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai, experiencing local culture and life at close proximity. Our tour guide Sert was exceptional in his care and interest in our welfare, understanding our areas of interest, managing a cycle pace to accommodate us. Sert & our support driver Bong amazingly introduced us to near 30 differing Thai dishes over 4 days, the morning teas purchased at local markets were a treat.

Incredibly well managed tour. Very impressed. Aei was an amazing guide. A true professional. So intelligent and well spoken with a wonderful friendly personality. She was great and eagerly translated for me as I stopped in the fields and at temple festivals to talk with the always smiling and welcoming farmers and local people. Mr. Thai the driver was very helpful, professional, patient and pleasant. Tam who took my booking was very remarkably prompt and efficient in responding to my questions.
