The Hunter Valley is where wine-making started in Australia and remains one of the most important wine-producing areas in the country. It is also a fantastic area to explore at handlebar level. In 1832, armed with 20,000 cuttings from Spain and France, James Busby established the first vineyards in Australia. Now, the region is famous for its Semillon and Shiraz. It’s also home to some great Chardonnays, Cabernet Sauvignon and Verdelho's. On this self-guided cycle we’ll take you on a journey around the Hunter Valley to experience some of the best it has to offer.

The accommodation was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The large spa bath was very comfortable after a days bike riding. The location was excellent and very central to our rides, wineries and food. Maps were handy but we decided to "do our own thing" in relation to where…

The weather for our trip was a bit challenging but we were lucky to have one fine day to cycle. Really enjoyed the experience. Great to see some of the Hunter by bike.
