Itinerary Details

  1. Day 1Arrival & Overnight in Napier

    After collection from Napier Airport, you'll arrive at your our gorgeous seaside accommodation overlooking the waterfront of Napier. Explore the delightful Art Deco town that is Napier with a visit to the Hawkes Bay Museum Theatre Gallery or just admire the preserved Art Deco architecture throughout this charming town.

    This evening the group will enjoy their first meal together, where you will meet your guide, ask as many questions as you like, and get to know your fellow cyclists. A two-course meal is included in your tour.

  2. Day 2Cycle to Taradale via Ahuriri Estuary

    After a full breakfast, your first day in the saddle is a morning cycle via the Ahuriri Estuary to Taradale, using the flat off road ‘Water Ride’ that leads out of Napier. Wonderful water views and abundant birdlife will be all around you.

    Enjoy a stop at Church Road Winery where the group will be treated to a platter style lunch of local gourmet delights, as well as a BONUS Behind the Scenes winery tour. This is a food and wine tutorial style tasting where you can chat with the winemaker/s and learn more about this great winery.

    After a delightful time, jump back on your bike and make your way to Taradale for an overnight stay. Dinner tonight is at the gorgeous and historic Mission Estate Winery, with a stunning 3 course meal included in your tour. Total distance covered today is 20kms (12mi), with an optional cycle around the Puketapu Loop (20kms/12mi) for those feeling energetic.

  3. Day 3Cycling to Havelock North

    After a full breakfast, cycle from Taradale heading to the more open vineyard area known as ‘Gimblett Gravels Appellation’. Enjoying the flat off road ‘Water Ride’, and then joining the ‘Wineries Ride’, the group will stop at a number of superb wineries including Trinity Hill – where you can enjoy a tasty platter style lunch - as well as Ngatarawa Estate and Abbey Cellars. You'll then head to Havelock North for the night's accommodation. Total distance cycled today is 35kms (21mi) of flat terrain and slow paced with lots of stops!

    Havelock North is a delightful small town and your evening is free to dine as a group, or strike out on your own to find a tasty meal, or even a bottle of your new favourite wine discovered on your cycling during the day.

  4. Day 4Cycle back to Napier

    After enjoying your breakfast in Havelock North, jump back into the saddle and cycle your way toward the coast. A slightly longer day’s cycling, but still lots of time to visit a number of our favourite wineries including visits to the incredible Black Barn Vineyard, Te Mata Estate Winery and lunch at the stunning Elephant Hill winery, on our way along the coast back to Napier. Today’s cycling will cover approximately 50kms (31mi) over flat, off road trails with lots of stops, finishing with delightful coastal scenery as the group heads back to Napier.

    Arriving back ‘home’ to Napier, dinner on our final night is at the Shed 2 Bistro on West Quay (casual pub style, 2 courses included), where a friendly debate  can be had for a favourite winery or the best views, and exchange contact details with your new friends. Sleep soundly knowing you have thoroughly explored the seaside region of Hawkes Bay.
