Start your adventure at the summit of Mt Wellington/kunanyi, 720 metres above sea level, where panoramic views stretch across Hobart, the Derwent River and beyond. From here, enjoy an exhilarating descent along the iconic North–South Track, an 11 km (6.8 mile) singletrack that winds through towering eucalypt forest with a mix of flowing trail, technical features and mostly downhill riding.
Designed for intermediate mountain bikers, the North–South Track offers an enjoyable challenge, while more experienced riders can test their skills on optional side features including log rides, drops and jumps. The trail is well signposted, making it easy to navigate at your own pace.
Your ride continues into the Glenorchy Mountain Bike Park, where you can explore a variety of purpose-built trails, including flowing loops, black-rated downhill tracks, tabletop jump lines and dirt jumps.
When you're ready, return to South Hobart by riding the scenic Intercity Cycleway. This flat, sealed path follows the former railway line between Glenorchy and Hobart, covering approximately 14 km in around 60 minutes. It's the most popular return option for riders on standard mountain bikes.
Allow approximately 3–4 hours to complete the full experience. A minimum of two riders is required. If you'd prefer a minibus pickup at the end of your ride or would like a guide to accompany you, simply let us know when booking.
