The tour starts in Salzburg, Austria and ends in Grado, Italy.

Arrival

You can fly into Salzburg airport (SZG) and take the bus to the city center (www.salzburg-verkehr.at).
Or arrive by train to Salzburg (www.oebb.at)
Or fly into Munich airport (MUC) and take the train to Salzburg (www.bahn.de)

Departure

You can depart by bus from Grado to Cervignano and by train back to Salzburg, duration approx. 7 hours with 3 changes in Cervignano, Udine and Villach. (www.tplfvg.it, www.trenitalia.com)
Or a return transfer to Salzburg is available every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning, (currently costs EUR 185 per person, extra EUR 45 for your own bike, to be paid for in advance, reservation is necessary).
Or Trieste - Friuli Venezia Giulia Airport (TRS), is located approximately 17–22 km away.
Or Venice Marco Polo (VCE) is around 1h 30m–2h away by car or bus.

The tour is 8 days long with 6 days of cycling.

What's the tour like?

Answer

You will mainly cycle on well-developed cycle paths and quiet side roads. Only a few sections lead you along roads with heavier traffic or on dirt paths. Overall, the route leads you on slightly hilly terrain, the most challenging section between St. Johann and the Gasteiner-valley can also be completed and bypassed by train.

With the travel document package, everyone will find the right route, precisely with all the necessary and helpful information.

Tour App
The Tour Operator has their own tour app where all the information is comprehensive and easy to use, plus a sophisticated orientation function which makes finding your way easy. The Tour App is definitely the most comfortable way to get around and it is completely free of charge. You can easily download the app onto any standard smartphone or tablet. In addition to the app, you can opt to receive a travel documents package on site if preferred for a small charge.

What will happen to my luggage?

Answer

The Tour Operator brings your suitcases and travel bags reliably from one accommodation to the next. Instead of having to maneuver a fully packed, heavy bike, you can relax and concentrate on the cycling, the landscape and making many unforgettable memories. In the handlebar and saddle bag you only need to bring what you need during the day. Simply leave the effort to the competent ground team.

By the way: If you don’t feel like cycling, the weather is too bad or if you suffer a minor injury, the transport service will offer you a ride if possible! Call the service hotline to ask.

Some reminders
Daily service: Your luggage will be transferred by the ground team every day and will be ready for you in the hotel in the evening. However, we ask you to leave your luggage in the specified location in good time so the driver can stay on schedule. You can find out when and where to drop your luggage in the travel documents.

Weight: Please think about the backs of the drivers and only bring luggage up to a maximum of 20kg. Better to have one more bag than one very heavy piece of luggage.

Liability: As luggage is loaded several times during the tour so pack carefully, as the Tour Operator cannot accept liability for damage to handles or wheels. Unusual luggage and currency are also excluded from liability.
