Plan for the Day

Take a quick 25-minute shuttle ride fromthe Tour Operator's shop to Arrowtown, where your self-guided adventure begins. You'll receive everything you need: a quality mountain bike or E-bike with a helmet, a thorough briefing on the route, and a trail map to guide you. Before setting off, you can explore the historic town of Arrowtown, a relic of the Gold Rush era, or grab a coffee for an energy boost.

Your ride starts along the scenic Arrow River Trail, following the river downstream to Morven Ferry, crossing stunning bridges along the way. Next, you'll connect to the Twin Rivers Trail, tracing the Kawarau and Shotover rivers toward Lake Whakatipu. As you ride, soak in the breathtaking alpine views of The Remarkables' foothills. Even the century-old Old Shotover Bridge offers exceptional views of two nearby ski areas.

The final stretch is a smooth, scenic trail along the lake's edge, passing cafés and even a brewery before concluding in central Queenstown.

This ride follows wide gravel trails, rated as either Grade 2 or 3. Covering at least 35 km (21 miles) with a few hills, it's best suited for confident riders with a good level of fitness.
