  • Who carries my luggage?

    On all tours, whether guided or self-guided, your luggage is transferred to your following night's accommodation. Luggage transfer is mostly carried out by the tour operator but sometimes they also use the accommodation provider or a local taxi service.  Luggage needs to be ready at the lobby hotel until 9:00 in morning. You will be informed of all details for local transfers and luggage transfers at the info meeting at your arrival day.

  • What equipment and clothing do I need to bring?

    You will need:

        Cycling shoes
        Suitable clothing for cycling
        Waterproof jacket
        Water carrier/bottle
        Helmet
        Note: you can mount(bring) your own bicycle pedals and seat
        First aid kit, sun cream, bug repellent

  • What is the accommodation going to be like?

    Accommodation is clean and simple. You'll mainly stay in small, locally-run, 3 star hotels and guesthouses, which reflect the character of the area.
     

  • How far in advance do I need to book?

    Book as soon as your plans are finalized as Istria is extremely popular over the summer months.

  • When is the best time of the year to visit?

    Spring in Croatia is sublime and April, May and June are absolutely lovely. Autumn is probably best time of year as the landscape is made up of a gold and red pallet so September and October are unmissable. July and August can be hot so you will have to start early to miss the heat of the day, although the towns and villages are busier with many seasonal festivals on which is great.

  • What is the average age of travelers in the group?

    Depending on the level of difficulty of the trip, the age of travelers can vary between 30 and 70 years. Average age is around 50 years of age. In family guided trips, children are also welcome.

  • What's the tour like?

    This cycling holiday is graded easy to moderate and involves 35-55 km daily distances. This holiday requires cyclist with better level of fitness who are occasional cyclist. Cycling days are longer and higher hills are possible. Distance for a day are 35 km to 55 km.

  • What kind of assistance is provided on this self-guided tour?

    On arrival day, you will be met by a tour representative in the evening at the hotel. This is the best time to ask any questions and a package containing vouchers, maps and road book, luggage tags and etc will be given. All necessary phone numbers and email will be provided too.

    In addition, the reception at the hotels guests will be staying in are familiar with the tour operator and can provide assistance.

    For navigation, the road book with maps have descriptions for each cycling day. The tour operator also has an App which can work offline and has helpful details such as points of interest to see in every location.

  • Where does the tour start and finish?

    The tour starts in Buje and finishes in Rovinj.

    Going to Buje
    The town can be reached by air, bus or private car.

    BY Air
    Trieste Airport (TRS) in Italy is 80km from Buje and can take 1.5hrs in a private car. The airport is connected by trains and shuttles to Trieste Center and from there it is possible take a bus to Buje. Note that buses to Buje may be limited.

    Pula International Airport (PUY) is approximately 120km from Buje and can take 1hr in a private car. The airport has shuttles going to Pula bus station and from there a bus can be taken to Buje. Note that buses to Buje from Pula may be limited too.

    In addition, the accommodation in Buje is approximately 5km from the bus station and taking a taxi is recommended.

    BY Car
    It is possible to drive yourself to Buje. Guesthouses do not charge parking fees.

    Getting Back to the Airport
    As the tour finishes in Rovinj, there are local buses from the bus station in Rovinj to Pula bus station (approximately 40mins). From there, a shuttle can be taken to Pula Airport.

    Private Transfers
    Private transfers from airports or towns (Venice, Trieste, Treviso, Ljubljana, Zagreb or Pula) can be arranged on request and with additional fees. Because of limited transfers to Buje, this option is recommended. Please message us if interested.

Beautiful area that is not spoilt by too much tourism, the local wine and olive oil were delightful.
Some of the hotels were small and family run so our money stayed in the local areas.
