  • Where does the tour start and end?

The tour starts and ends in Ålesund.

Group airport transfers are included in the cost of your holiday and both the arrival and departure transfer from and back to Alesund Vigra airport (AES) will be co-ordinated with the group flight schedule.

There are currently no direct flights from the UK into Alesund, but there are usually non-direct flights via Amsterdam or Bergen available.

Please check with us before making any travel arrangements to make sure we have reached the minimum number required to guarantee the trip and to ensure your arrangements fit with our scheduled transfers.

Please note If you make travel arrangements that fall outside of the scheduled transfer windows, there may be an additional charge for individual transfers. Alternatively, you can jump on the local airport bus for (approx) 200kr/pers or get a taxi to Ålesund for (approx) 650kr.

  • How long is the tour? How many days cycling?

The tour is 7 days long with 5 days of cycling.

  • What's the tour like?

You’ll predominantly be riding on scenic, quiet roads (most shared with traffic), with some short sections on dedicated cycle paths (around 5% of the route).  You’ll be riding almost exclusively on tarmac, with occasional (short) sections on gravel / dirt roads.

Day 3 will pose the biggest challenge, as you make your way 30 Kms up hill to admire the famous Trollstigen roads, but your e-bikes should help take the sting out of this.

    - For this tour, e-bikes are only used.

    - Distances generally between 20-45 miles / 32-72 kms per day

    - For the leisure cyclist with a good level of physical fitness

    - May include some steeper, cheeky climbs and possibly sections of varying terrain (eg. forest tracks, gravel paths etc)

    Is this suitable for you?

Although you may not cycle everyday, you do keep yourself relatively fit and maybe enjoy an afternoon out on your bike at the weekend. Your preference is perhaps for flatter terrain but you don’t mind tackling some hills, and the occasional steep climb if you can take it at your own pace. This tour is for those happy to tackle some ups and downs, and possibly some sections of varying terrain (eg. forest tracks, gravel paths etc) .  You'd need to have a decent level of physical fitness and be comfortable with some longer days in the saddle.

  • Can I find out more about the bikes and equipment?

If you don’t own a suitable bike or would prefer to avoid bringing your own, bikes are available to rent. These bikes are typically Cannondale Tesoro Neo X E-Bikes.

The bikes don’t as standard come with a pannier rack or pannier bags, as the support vehicle will be close by to carry your daily necessities, but do let us know if you’d like a handlebar bag to be provided.

This is an e-bikes only tour and so regular hybrid bikes are unavailable.

If you choose to bring your own e-bike, please contact us so we can discuss the bike specification and ensure it is suitable for the tour.

Helmets can be provided, locally on request. Please let us know at the time of booking if you’d like us to organize this for you.

We had a wonderful holiday in Norway. The landscape was absolutely stunning, our guides were organized and fun, and the accommodation and meals were great. We felt we really experienced Norway – the fjords, the ferry trips, the beautiful valleys with mountains all around us, and with stays in some wonderful towns. We have done around 10 or so cycling trips with [the ground operator] and this will rank as maybe our favorite.

We return to [the ground operator] for our cycling trips as we always have full confidence that all aspects of the trip from initial booking to the conclusion of the tour will be well handled.

Each day brought some wonderful views and experiences. We really enjoyed day five which started with a ferry ride along Geirangerfjord, and then proceeded with a cycle through the beautiful and peaceful Norangsdalen Valley and ended with another ferry ride to our stop at the very picturesque town of Saebo. Along the way we even had a chance to see the King of Norway come ashore while having a picnic in a park near the water front!

Favorite day would have to be the Trollstigen Pass cycle because it is so iconic but then the ride through Norangsdalen was beautiful and so totally different! But must not forget the RIB ride, the kayaking, the strawberries, the cherries! The list goes on!
