  • Where does the tour start and end?

The tour starts and ends in Adelaide, where the tour operator will transfer you from/to the Flinders Ranges.  Fly in/out of Adelaide Airport (ADL).

  • How long is the tour?

The tour is 6 days long with 5 days riding.

  • What's the tour like?

The tour encompasses 4 and a half days of mountain bike riding the Flinders Ranges by loop with one extra morning ride at the MTB mecca of Melrose. You'll need to have a decent level of fitness and be an experienced mountain biker to get the most out of this tour, and be able to ride 4 - 5hrs a day covering 50 - 60km (31-37mi) on rough and sometimes technical terrain. Whilst much of the trails are fairly straight forward, there are also sections that are technically more challenging, and novice riders will need to test themselves! You will need plenty of stamina, but a reasonably fit rider should have no problems. Vehicle support is also provided by our van.

  • Can I hire a bike?

You can hire one of the tour operator's hardtails or a dual suspension bike with all spares etc provided. There are also E-bikes available.

  • Is there a minimum age?

    The minimum age is 18.

  • Are helmets required?

A helmet is required to be worn on all biking activities and is non-negotiable. If you do not wear a helmet you won't be allowed to cycle.

The tour operator does have helmets available to hire but if you have your own this is preferable so that you are comfortable with a well-fitted helmet.

  • Please read here for the tour operator's message concerning Covid-19

    COVID-19 information – UPDATED AS OF 17 December 2020

All tours are reopened and operating, as are skills days. As all state borders have reopened, and most restrictions are relaxed, we now feel it’s appropriate to re-open shuttles, although in a slightly smaller group size, and obviously currently Fox Creek is closed, so shuttles are at Eagle and Kersbrook. So basically everything is back on now! Get out there on the trails!

We are flexible with bookings and refunding as long as cancellations are for COVID-19 related issues. A cancellation notice within 48-hrs before tour departure is preferable.

I recently went on the Flinders Ranges tour and it was excellent. It was very well organized with great food, good accommodation and the bike ride was well supported by Ian and Dave. It was a great way to see the Flinders Ranges which were spectacular. We did 50kms a day which was perfect. Being 60 I was worried that it would be too much for me however with plenty of rest stops it was fine. I highly recommend this tour as a great way to see the Flinders Ranges.

Our group of 5 women, aged 50-61, had an unforgettable 5 days mountain biking the 200kms Flinders Ranges by Bike trail. We were all first time mountain bikers. Ian & Deb, Escapegoats in Chief, were outstanding. They were super organized, friendly & expert guides in the Flinders. Their bikes were expertly maintained & customized to our individual needs. Ian provided an electric mountain bike too, invaluable for fatigue beating & for less fit "seniors"! We stayed 4 nights at The Homestead, Willow Springs Station & the last night at Under the Mount, Melrose. Both wonderful accommodation, roomy & comfy. Transport by minivan was safe & comfortable too. Ian & Deb catered for us & we enjoyed relaxing evening meals with them reviewing highlights of the day & planning the next. Highly recommended. Tips: boost your general & aerobic fitness before the trip to get the most out of the experience; bring your own bike saddle, lean into the thrills!

Amazing!

Wonderful 5 days with EscapeGoat in Flinders Ranges. Our guides were professional and friendly at the same time. They knew how to adapt to each participants skills as well as weather conditions. Would go on trips with them again!
