Cycling in Nepal often evokes images of extreme mountain biking on the rugged slopes of the Himalayas. While that’s a part of the adventure, this tour offers a broader experience, exploring diverse landscapes and cultures at a moderate cycling pace on manageable terrain. From the temperate highlands around Kathmandu to the lush, subtropical plains of the Terai region, and from the sacred birthplace of Lord Buddha at Lumbini to the tranquil mountain lakes of Pokhara, this 10-day journey delves deep into Nepal’s rich heritage.
Starting in Kathmandu, the first leg of the tour heads south through the Himalayan foothills, passing pine forests, Nepali villages, and terraced agricultural fields. Enjoy sweeping views of snow-capped peaks, hike to a Hindu temple hidden in the woods, and descend on a winding road to reach the Terai Plains. Following the braided Rapti River, the journey continues to the edge of Chitwan National Park, known for its subtropical jungles filled with wildlife. A canoe ride offers the opportunity to spot rhinos, crocodiles, and more.
The adventure continues west to the Sacred Garden of Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The final stage takes riders back into the foothills, with a night in Tansen, a charming hill station, followed by a ride through wild gorges to reach the lakeside city of Pokhara, the gateway to the Annapurna Range. On the last day, a hike and bike ride around picturesque Begnas Lake concludes the tour in Pokhara, with the option to extend the journey with trekking or return to Kathmandu by flight.
