We did have a puncture on day 2 in Myrtleford so we rang Bernard who came out to us and fixed the tyre and we were on our way in no time!!!!
Great accommo, great food and choice of wineries.
I will do this again!

We are a fairly fit middle aged couple who have just completed the 4 day Beechworth to Bright self guided cycling tour. While we were not blessed with nice weather we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Beechworth to Milawa is about 10km of fairly steep downhill and the other 20km is relatively flat. If going in the cooler months be sure to dress warmly on this section as our hands were frightfully cold after hurtling downhill in drizzle and 4 degrees temp. For the Milawa to Myrtleford section we chose to go via Wangaratta which gave us a lovely diverse range of scenery. That section is the only one with a noticeable uphill ride (over Taylor's Gap) and it was not overly difficult. The final section of Mrytleford to Bright has a number of excellent stop off points. Our favorite lunch spot was Gapsted Winery (between Milawa and Myrtleford) but every stop was fun and the food excellent. As the Rail Trail is fully sealed, if you are a road bike cyclist you may want to take your own bike - simply because a bike you are used to is always the most comfortable option.
The tour operator obviously has a number of people cycling this route as each lunch spot was expecting us and knew exactly what was included in our meal.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed this tour and are keen to do more cycling tours.
Self guided tour from Beechworth to Bright
Overall the tour was well organized. The accommodation at Beechworth, Myrtleford and Bright was decent. Outstanding food at the Motel at Myrtleford. The scenery along the route varies from dry pastures from Beechworth to green mountain on either side nearing Bright. Overall I enjoyed the tour. Would recommend this tour…

My wife and I recently completed this tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. Accommodation was excellent, meals also and the rail trail and environs were easy to navigate and ride. We did it for our 70th birthday so anyone with moderate cycling fitness should handle it. The tour is well organized, and communication was first class. Local support from Dermott was also great. A few tips though if you are thinking of doing the tour. Travel insurance is a must as the cancellation policy is strict. If you are a female cyclist, would suggest you bring your own comfortable saddle. And finally, also suggest you bring a head torch as the restaurant in Bright is over a kilometre from the motel.

Last weekend my partner and I completed the self guided Beechworth to Bright tour and had an amazing time throughout the whole experience.
Everyone we met along the way was so friendly and accomodating, the food everywhere was brilliant, my partner is still raving about the pizza at Bastoni's and the dinner on the first night at Ox and Hound was one of the best I've had.
Sheila and John at Foxgloves B&B were wonderful, felt like we were staying with mom and dad and the Panorama villas on our second night were beautiful, well worth the upgrade!!
The ride itself was manageable for me (I'm quite unfit) and a breeze for my partner who is very fit and the wineries were so beautiful. Friendly knowledgeable staff, generous tastings and delicious platters with local cheeses and other goodies.
Thanks Bernard for being to pick us up when needed in a flash always with a big smile and for telling us all about the local area, your enthusiasm just added to this wonderful experience.
Thanks Damien, we can't wait to do our next tour!
Magnificent scenery, wineries and exercise!

Lunches at both wineries (Gapsted and Boyntons) were amazing - hosts were very generous and made us feel so welcome. Lots of places to stop along the way and that scenery is spectacular. As a group in their late 40's / early 50's that aren't super fit - we all made it without injury. A big thanks to Bernard who kept in touch with us the whole way. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
Fantastic weekend away

EVERYTHING was so well organized for us - we didn't have to think or worry about anything. Accommodation was fantastic. The lunches included at the wineries were more than generous and Gapsted Winery left bottles on our table after tasting which I've never experienced before. I HIGHLY recommend this tour for fun and value. The scenery is superb and if 12 unfit people ranging in their 40's and 50's can do it, anyone can. Thank you to Damian and to Bernard for an amazing experience.
Another awesome experience

We enjoyed this trip in early May. It was a bit chilly but didn't detract at all from the experience. We loved the rail trail. The scenery was fantastic. Accommodation in Beechworth and Myrtleford was excellent, people warm and friendly. Lunches at the wineries were perfect.

If I am going to be picky, would say that the bikes were hard work!!! We are used to riding good road bikes so if we did it again, we would take our own bikes. The plus side of that, we rode slowly so enjoyed the scenery more.

Thanks for the great weekend! Two days of cycling, visiting the wineries and other local producers, great lunches and great fun. A great time was had by all.

The trip was terrific, with the tour operators and partners looking out for all our needs. The cycling was a nice mix of easy and challenging on day 1 with a fairly flat track run on the final day. The vineyards looked after us, but I wouldn't count on having enough time to do more than that during the riding phases. Transporting was slick and the connections all worked. The train return trip to and from Wangaratta was relaxing and really economical...$99 return for the two of us, total. Accommodation and hosting at all stops were great and Bernard the majordomo of the tour who shuttled us around and runs the [tour operation] at high country end was really accommodating. Good idea to alert any comers to the NSW-based XPT service from Melb to Wangaratta as it gets missed by the online VLine schedules on some digital platforms.
Sharon was saddle sore from two days on road saddles... our electrics here have broad European spring seats! But a day's rest has done wonders:)
