Long isolated from the rest of world by the Himalayas, Bhutan has remained a land steeped in mystery. With traditions and values retained, Bhutan promises to entrance you with an unspoiled landscape and centuries of Buddhist tradition.

This landlocked kingdom is bounded by two of the world’s largest nations: China to the north and India to its western and southern borders. Bhutan’s topography and lush ecosystem is one of its greatest attractions. Home to a wide range of flora, including medicinal plants, orchids, rhododendrons, and the national flower, the blue poppy. Besides the rare flora, there is an abundance of birds to be seen all along the tour.

Traditional dzongs (fortress-like monasteries) dot the countryside, ranging from simple to elaborate structures. Close to any monastery or chorten, you’ll be sure to find “prayer flags” fluttering in the wind.

On this introduction tour to the Land of the Thunder Dragon you'll have your visit to a dzong in Paro before visiting the capital Thimpu. The ride continues with a challenging climb up to the top of Dochula Pass. The rest of the riding will be easy compared to this day! As you pedal part way across the country you'll be on the main road but there will be little traffic as you cycle from Thimphu to Punakha. Punakha's dzong is one of the most impressive in Bhutan and the group will also cycle deeper into the valley and visit a temple from 1499.

On the last day in Bhutan you will hike up to the fabled Tiger's Nest Monastery, with permits to visit the monastery itself rather than just going to a nearby overlook as many tours do.

Outstanding scenery, abundant wildlife and flora, a deeply religious and benevolent people make for a truly wonderful bike trip that will live in your memory forever.
