Then, immerse yourself in the pristine beauty of Patagonia National Park in Cochrane, a conservation gem generously donated to Chile by The North Face founder. Here, discover forests that sequester more carbon per hectare than the Amazon. Lastly, uncover the enigmatic secrets of the Ñadis and wander through the enchanting, stilted village of Caleta Tortel. The trip is classified as having a high difficulty, covering an average of 60 km per day. The Carretera Austral departure in December and February, at this point, consists of approximately 330km gravel and 120 km pavement. While the January departure consists of 430km loose gravel and 120 km pavement. Previous experience in recreational or professional cycling sports is essential to get the most out of this trip as is being in good physical condition with training prior to the trip.

Please note that the January 2025 departure is longer, spanning 13 days, as it includes Villa O'Higgins in the itinerary. This itinerary is more remote and includes more camping nights compared to the December 2024 and February 2025 departures. For more details, please see the Itinerary tab.
