Itinerary Details

  1. Day 1Arrival in Schärding

Take a stroll through the pretty Baroque town of Schärding and marvel at the famous "Silberzeile" a row of colourful houses. Enjoy the numerous cafés and restaurants around the town square. Miniature versions of the Seven Wonders of the World are displayed throughout Schärding and can be admired up close, taking you back to a world of legends and myths. In the evening, attend a welcome meeting and collect your rental bikes.

    • Stadthotel Schärding or similar
  2. Day 2Schärding - Passau

Fresh as a daisy, you continue along the well-maintained and perfectly signposted cycle path beside the River Inn to Passau. Located at the confluence of three rivers, Passau is regarded as one of Germany’s most beautiful towns, with a charming car-free pedestrian zone. There is plenty of time to enjoy an ice cream, cake or coffee at one of the countless pavement cafés and restaurants. In the afternoon, spend some time at the adventure pool "peb" in Passau (entrance fee included). With a diving platform, wave pool, slides and much more, this swimming paradise is one of the most spectacular pool facilities in Germany!

  3. Day 3Passau - Schlögen

Today you start on the southern side of the Danube and cycle along a marvellous route with lovely views all the way to Jochenstein. On a very hot day, we recommend a short detour to the outdoor swimming pool in Engelhartszell. You then continue along the northern side of the Danube through the nature reserve ‘Donauleiten’ all the way to Schlögen. From here, you take the ferry (autonomously) and cross back to the other side of the river, where you reach your day’s finish.

  4. Day 4Schlögen - Aschach

The natural spectacle of the “Schlögener Schlinge” (river bend) is right at the start of today’s stage. Here, the Danube meets the unyielding granite cliffs, forcing the river to change direction by 180 degrees. From there, you continue along the course of the Danube all the way to Aschach. A fantastic day of cycling through stunning natural scenery.
