Itinerary Details

  1. Day 1Arrival Day

Welcome to Cambodia! Check in to the hotel is any time from 2pm. If you’re flying in to Phnom Penh today, the tour operator will arrange your airport transfer. Spend your day exploring this great city until the group arrives and you’ll meet up in the evening for a welcome dinner at Romdeng, part of the Friends International Social Enterprise Franchise. Not only a great restaurant, but a fantastic training ground for marginalized youth. You’ll jump into the culinary deep end with an array of local feasts.

    • Mito Hotel, Phnom Penh
    • Dinner
  2. Day 2Phnom Penh: Friends International, S-21 Genocide Museum and Khmer BBQ

You’ll start the day by meeting the incredible people at Friends International and learn about the wonderful work they do within the community. This is a great insight into REAL local everyday issues, from real local everyday heroes. You'll then venture towards the Russian market and move to Tuol Sleng, also known as S-21 Genocide Museum. This devastating chapter of the Khmer Rouge and Cambodian history is emotionally challenging but strongly recommended. There is some free time in the afternoon to process your day, whilst you’ll meet again for a local Khmer BBQ dinner tonight.

    • Mito Hotel, Phnom Penh
    • Breakfast and Dinner
  3. Day 3Kampot: Chisaur Temple

You'll cycle south of Phnom Penh to Chisaur Mountain Temple in rural Cambodia. It’s not really much of a mountain at 130m and the route is perfectly flat. Casually cycle through remote villages and waterways, via narrow dirt tracks. Chisaur Temple is where you will have lunch as there is plenty of time to explore these ancient ruins which are 200 years older than Angkor Wat. From here, there will be a van that will take you down to the Cambodian coastal town of Kampot to enjoy the culinary delights on offer.

  4. Day 4Kampot: The Bokor Mountain Cycle Challenge

Start the day with an (optional) mammoth Bokor Mountain cycle challenge! It’s 40km (24.8mi) to get to the top. The first 10km (6.2mi) is flat, then it just keeps on going up, and up, and up! If cycling uphill doesn’t rock your world, the tour operator can bring your bike in the van and you can cycle down! Whilst at the top, you can take some time to explore the French ghost town of Bokor Hill Station in Preah Monivong National Park. If you feel like taking some time off the bike, Kampot is a great town to caffeinate, people watch and relax.

    • Vibola Guesthouse or similar, Kampot
  5. Day 5Kampot: Salt Fields, CLS and Khmer Cooking Class

In the morning, you’ll visit Chumkriel Language School (no children will be in attendance at the time of visiting). A fantastic NGO and inspirational human being, Mr Suthy has set up a very grassroots local school to give access to education for children of the salt field community. In the afternoon, you'll partake in a cooking class, teaching you the best of Khmer cuisine!

There's an optional 10km (6.2mi) cycle today to the salt fields.

  6. Day 6Rach Gia (Vietnam): Salt Lakes, Pepper Farms, Live Crab Markets and White Beaches

Located just before the border, this town is famous for it’s fresh seafood, particularly crab. You’ll spend a couple of hours exploring the famous pepper plantations and salt lakes on the way.

Navigating through the back roads, you’ll make your way around the National Park and to the border crossing into Ha Tien, Vietnam. From Ha Tien, you’ll jump in the van and head to Rach Gia for a feast of local seafood and Banh Xeo.

  7. Day 7Can Tho: Cycling the Mekong Delta

Can Tho is where the Mekong Delta truly comes to life! You’ll ride through scenic back roads, cutting through rice paddies and farmland, reaching the city by late afternoon. The cycling route ends about 20km outside the city, but if your energy and daylight allow, you have the option to ride all the way in. Alternatively, you can hop into the van. With over a million residents and a bustling tourist scene, Can Tho buzzes with a unique vibrancy. Take some time to relax and explore this incredible city. For dinner, settle on a patch of grass at the night market and indulge in a tasting feast of delectable street food!

  8. Day 8Can Tho: Sunrises, Floating Markets, Noodle Factories and Cocoa Farms

You’ll spend the morning at the floating markets, experiencing the authentic daily hustle as locals trade, sell, and buy goods—not a staged performance, but real life in action. Afterward, you’ll visit a noodle factory, where you can try your hand at making your own noodles, followed by a stop at cocoa farms just before lunch. The afternoon is yours to unwind—relax, enjoy a massage, and immerse yourself in the local culture!

You’ll start early to beat the heat and dodge as much traffic as possible. First stop: a coconut candy factory, where you can learn about this sweet local treat, either arriving by van or bike. Cycling into Saigon for the final ride of your tour is a one-of-a-kind experience. Ho Chi Minh City offers a glimpse of what the world might look like if cars didn’t dominate, with entire lanes and roads dedicated to two-wheelers. The last 15km of cycling is optional, so if the traffic feels intimidating, you can hop into the van—about half the group usually does. Your hotel is centrally located, just a short walk from the Street Food Market, where you’ll enjoy dinner and live music to end the day.

Their social enterprise trains beneficiaries to create quilts, handicrafts, and bamboo bicycles. Mekong Plus takes a holistic approach, offering education scholarships, vocational training, microfinance programs, and social enterprise opportunities. The rest of the day is yours to explore at your own pace. Ho Chi Minh City offers a vibrant mix of local markets, grand shopping centers, museums, and attractions to discover.
