Just finished a tour of the Borossa, Clare and McLarenvale over the past week and it was fabulous. Don't forget that you really need to hire a car to make this trip work.
We visited Maggie Beer's farm shop in the Barossa which had wonderful tastings of all her products.
The Clare Valley's Riesling Trail is a rail trail and easy to ride. It is surrounded by wonderful wineries to visit. At the end of the ride for that day we visited Martindale Hall at Mintaro. It is fabulous and very historic with the local town of Mintaro operating as a village of yesteryear. An absolute highlight.
Accommodation was good and the food gourmet.
McLarenvale's ride to Wirra Wirra for a masterclass tasting and platter lunch with James was a highlight.
At the end of the tour we drove to Hahndorf for a night and enjoyed the Beerenberg factory with local products and all the German wurst and beer that the town had to offer.
Lastly we rode along the Torrens to the city and back to the suburbs. Carrick Hill in Adelaide is a marvellous historic house to visit with acres of gardens. Wonderful trip.
