Ride alongside the turquoise waters of 'Chelenko Lake,' also known as General Carrera Lake, exploring its most scenic backroads over 7 days. This gravel cycling expedition begins at Balmaceda Airport, heading towards Cerro Castillo National Park. The Las Ardillas back road leads you to Puerto Ibáñez, where a ferry takes you to Chile Chico. You'll continue cycling towards Jeinimeni National Reserve, passing through the 'Las Llaves' slope and Puerto Guadal village, staying in Catalina Bay. The adventure continues towards Puerto Tranquilo village, and then through the stunning Exploradores Valley, reaching a viewpoint with breathtaking glacier views. The tour concludes at Balmaceda Airport or in Coyhaique City.

  • Where does the tour start and end?

    The tour starts and ends at Balmaceda Airport (BBA), Chile, with a transfer from there on day 1 and a transfer back to there on the last day of the tour. 

    - You'll need to be at Balmaceda Airport on day 1 by 10 am at the latest.

    Alternatively, if you are in Coyhaique, a pick up is possible there but very early in the morning.

    On departure, it's advised that you look for flights that leave after 2pm on the last day, flights nearer to 3pm would be ideal as you'll normally arrive at the airport at 1pm.




  • How long is the tour? How many cycling days?

    The tour is 7 days long with 6 days of cycling.

  • What's the tour like?

    This route is challenging with mainly riding on gravel and loose gravel roads (396km) and some corrugated road stages (70km). Experience in recreational or sport cycling is desirable, good physical condition and enough training on slopes and long distance endurance.

  • Is insurance included?

    Yes, accident insurance for adventure tourism activities is included. However, it's still recommended to get your own travel insurance for the duration of the trip.
